235 Emergency Planning Course - Intermediate
Responsibility for alleviating suffering and damage resulting from natural disasters and other events that threaten communities rests with State and local governments. The elected leadership in each jurisdiction (i.e., town, city, county or parish, and State) is legally responsible for ensuring that necessary and appropriate actions are taken to protect people, property, and the environment from the consequences of emergencies that threaten their safety. To ensure that necessary and appropriate actions are taken, by the proper personnel and at the proper time, requires a coordinated effort to develop an Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) that enables the jurisdiction to respond effectively and efficiently to an emergency event. The purpose of this course is to provide members of a jurisdiction's planning team with basic information about key planning factors that affect its ability to respond and with tools to help them make the best decisions possible for each of those factors. This course does not provide every planning factor and every tool that can possibly be used in planning, but it does provide tools for planning factors that are crucial to every jurisdiction in the country.
EM235_Intermediate is the 1997 update of G-235 Emergency Planning Course. The information included in this course is much broader and detailed with activities that train the user to create and update and emergency plan. It includes three components.
