INTRODUCTION The ability of local
governments to perform a rapid assessment accurately and within the first
few hours after an incident is critical to providing an adequate local
government response for life-threatening situations and imminent hazards. GOAL This course will
teach participants how to develop and plan procedures for rapidly and
efficiently collecting disaster information immediately following a disaster.
This information is used to prioritize response activities, allocate available
resources and specifically request resources from other sources to save
and sustain lives. AUDIENCE Any person assigned responsibilities to manage, develop procedures, collect and monitor disaster information. This course was release by FEMA September 1998 and will take approximately 4-hours to complete. There are four modules and appendices in one file associated with this course. The course file is less than one megabyte for the benefit of low bandwidth (14.4 and 28.8 modem) users. The naming protocol is em250-7.exe. Graphics may not be optimum in these documents due to originals and file size considerations. Upon receiving your paid registration, we will send you the password to open these. We recommend you print out the pages as you need them and keep them as a paper reference. The test is submitted online. When you pass the test, you will be mailed a certificate of completion. The final exam is 20 questions taken from the reading material. You may use any of the materials while taking the test.
